There are a lot of big-name free agents to watch this offseason, but one guy who has the most uncertain future is DeMarcus Cousins.

There are questions if the New Orleans Pelicans want to re-sign him, and if they don't there is a good chance the market for his services is going to be very small.

Zach Lowe of ESPN was appearing on a podcast with Bill Simmons, and he said the market this offseason for Cousins will be the Dallas Mavericks, and that might be the end of the list.

There aren't a ton of teams that have the cap space to sign Cousins, and the ones that do are so bad that they wouldn't want to spend the money on him just yet. There is also the problem that he is coming off a major injury, and until anyone sees him play competitive basketball, no one is sure that Cousins will be back to 100 percent.

The Pelicans and coach Alvin Gentry have said they want him back, but making the cap room could prove to be difficult for them.

“I don't really talk about free agency. But the bottom line is that obviously we'd like to have him back on our team,” Gentry said Monday while speaking at the Saints Hall of Fame Golf Classic via ESPN. “Anyone that thinks you're better having a guy that averaged [25 PPG, 13 RPG, 5 APG] not on your team is really kind of not in tune to what it takes to win in this league.

There is still a lot of time to figure out what will happen with Cousins, but it sounds like he might not be as highly sought after as many believed for.
