The Persona series will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in September 2021. Atlus is planning various commemorative merchandise, events, and collaborations for the franchise.

The official teaser website contains 7 images. One of them has the date “2021/9” on it, the next five just contain the words “Coming Soon” while the 7th one has a “2022/Autumn” inscribed in the photo.

One of these teasers might pertain to Code Name: X, a mobile game inspired by Persona 5. Perfect World Games acquired the license. Details on the game are currently scarce. They have since then taken down the game's website, presumably because it went live prematurely.

Another of these projects is presumably Persona 6. The merchandise website for the 25th anniversary contains a set of acrylic stands that contain box art from the mainline Persona games. However, there are two extra stands in the set that are grayed out and simply labeled “secret”. Additionally, a set of trading photo cards featuring each game's protagonist also has one extra card grayed out with “secret”. These “secret” merchandises are presumably placeholders for Persona 6. With this in mind, we might actually see the protagonist and the game's box art by September.

Fueling the flames even further is Atlus Japan's recruitment page where they posted several developer interviews. One of these developers confirmed that Persona 6 was a game that Atlus was absolutely looking forward to making, but it was also considered to be quite daunting. They also stated that they would like the new game to improve upon Persona 5 substantially.

So there you have it, perhaps some news on Persona 6 is just beyond the horizon.
