The Detroit Pistons have bolstered their depth at the point guard position as they claimed Beno Udrih off waivers after the Miami Heat waived him yesterday, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

This comes on the heels of Ray McCallum making the final roster spot, meaning there's likely to be an extra decision for head coach Stan Van Gundy to make. Van Gundy needs to decide who gets back-up duties to Ish Smith, who will start in place of injured Reggie Jackson.

McCallum was said to have “the edge” on Lorenzo Brown for the final spot on the team due to his NBA experience. If Van Gundy was to use the same criteria, he'd likely keep Udrih who has played in the league for 12 years.

Regardless of who wins the last spot, the move will be inconsequential once Jackson comes back, as Smith will likely get the vast amount of minutes at the back-up point guard position.
