The NBA recently confirmed that they are banning the use of “ninja-style headbands” for the 2019-20 season. Now, becoming a true comedian as of late, Detriot Pistons power forward Blake Griffin immediately took it to Twitter to add his two cents to the mix.

Harping on Adrian Wojnarowski's report, the Pistons All-Star joked that he at least enjoyed the fact that a few NBA employees had to use some pretty funny verbiage in announcing the league's decision about the “controversial” headwear.

Leading to such a decision by the NBA, many around the league apparently believed that the unpredictability and unsafe nature of this headwear caused it to be a hazard on the court. The size and length of such headbands ultimately led to its ban going forward.

“The NBA’s Competition Committee discussed ‘Ninja-style headwear' in Chicago meeting today and some members expressed concerns on safety, including looseness of headwear. Safety concern remains at center of review of concept in future,” Wojnarowski reported on Monday evening.

Of course, the NBA remains — by far — the most progressive North American professional sports league despite getting rid of this popular item among players. Although this will hurt the feelings of a few players in the short term, it is almost a guarantee that the league will find something else to make popular in no time.
