The Detroit Pistons have no plans to start Derrick Rose over Reggie Jackson during the regular season despite Rose's strong preseason play, according to Rod Beard of the Detroit News.

Rose has arguably been the best player for the Pistons in the first three preseason games. The former MVP put up 10 points and four assists against the Orlando Magic in 15 minutes, 18 points and five assists versus the Dallas Mavericks in 24 minutes, and finished with 15 points in 22 minutes on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey has already said Rose will be on the floor ā€œif the gameā€™s on the line.ā€

Last season with theĀ Minnesota Timberwolves, Rose averaged 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 51 games. The three-time All-Star shot 48.2 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from the 3-point line.

The Pistons will likely start Jackson, Bruce Brown, Tony Snell,Ā Blake GriffinĀ andĀ Andre Drummond. Rose, though, figures to close out games for Detroit with Jackson since heā€™s an explosive scorer. Last season in Minnesota, Rose became the first NBA player since 1983 to score at least 917 points in fewer than 1,400 minutes.

It wouldn't be that much of a surprise if we see the Pistons load manage Rose during the course of the regular season. After all, D-Rose has undergone four knee surgeries in his career, so managing his health is important to Detroit.
