The Detroit Pistons were hoping to get some sort of revenge on the Philadelphia 76ers. Instead, they wound up suffering their worst loss of the 2017-18 NBA season. Needless to say, head coach Stan Van Gundy was not happy about the beatdown that was handed by the Sixers.

The Sixers had dominated the Pistons the entire game. Speaking to reporters after the game, Van Gundy pulled no punches when it came to Detroit's porous performance in their embarrassing 114-78 loss to the Sixers.

“That was total domination from start to finish,” Van Gundy said. “We didn't have a good two-minute stretch in the game. What disappoints me most? Just put a list out there. We got absolutely destroyed.”

Stan Van Gundy attributed the team's lackluster performance to their inability to defend and rebound against Philadelphia.

“There was no defensive resistance and we didn't rebound at all,” Van Gundy continued. “We can't rebound (against the Sixers). We haven't been able to keep them off the glass. They just destroy us on the glass.”

Despite their fluctuating performance throughout the year, it was a bit of a surprise to see the Pistons being bullied by the Sixers on the boards. Center Andre Drummond has established himself as the league's premier rebounder. However, he was essentially neutralized after being held to single-digit rebounds for just the third time this year.

Perhaps the most concerning aspect of Stan Van Gundy's criticisms is that they are largely problems that can be fixed with a little bit of hustle. However, Detroit seemingly threw in the towel after being dominated from the tip-off.
