Reggie Jackson had been out since December with a sprained ankle but he returned on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Suns and although he was on a minutes restriction, he still looked good.

He played only 15 minutes but was able to score seven points and gave just a small glimpse of what the future might look for with the Pistons.

The Pistons were able to win 115-108 and after the game, Stan Van Gundy talked with Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press about how impressed he was.

“If we can get Reggie healthy and keep him healthy, with those three guys, that’s going to be a formidable group to play against for anybody,” Van Gundy said.

“This can be a very good team. Nothing that happens in the next 11 games would change my mind on that. They just need time together and they need health.”

For the Pistons this year, it is probably too late for the playoffs, and maybe even for Van Gundy's job. The Pistons are 5.5 games back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot and with only 11 games left, it would take a miracle.

For Van Gundy, he has had a disappointing tenure with the Pistons and it's unclear if upper management will give him one more year with the team.

No matter who the coach is though, it looks like the future is bright if this big three stays together. It will take time but an off-season together is probably just what this team needs to really compete again in the East.
