Leaks have been flooding out by the dozen for Pokémon Legends Arceus, including new Hisuian forms and evolutions. Now that fans have an idea of the types of Pokémon found across Hisui, the upcoming open-world RPG is also bringing another intriguing twist to encounters. In an ode to Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, players have spotted crackling in the skies called space-time distortions. Here's what we know so far about distortions appearing in Legends Arceus and the possible Pokémon encounters through these phenomena.

Pokemon Legends Arceus Leaks: Space-Time Distortions

Legends Arceus has already brought a lot of changes to the game's mechanics, from how you engage in battles to getting attacked by Pokémon, from taking fall damage to having Strong and Agile styles. As it turns out, there's another way by which trainers can interact with the world around them—through blue lightning-like crackles in the sky. As seen in this Reddit post, the interesting phenomenon is called a space-time distortion. Though perhaps players familiar with Pokémon TCG will be tempted to call them time-space distortions just like one of the trainer cards in the game.

We've already seen unorthodox encounter mechanics come to life in previous Pokémon games. For example, in Sword & Shield, players could walk up to Pokémon Dens in the Wild Area. Suddenly, you'd find yourself up against a particularly strong Dynamax or Gigantamax forms in Max Raid Battles.

Space-time distortions in PLA, at least from what we've seen so far, work a little differently. The leaks so far have yet to reveal the full extent of these domes, such as the specific locations to find them or how often they appear. In contrast, the Pokémon Dens were scattered just about everywhere in the Wild Area. While the entire Hisui region seems like an expanded Wild Area, the distortions look like a dome of sizzling energy. If you've played PUBG, then it looks quite like the circle or safe zone marking. Except this time, in Legends Arceus, the distortion zone is not so safe, encasing all that (potentially damaging) energy within.

These distortions could allow players to encounter rare Pokémon that do not quite fit the ancient wilderness of the Hisui region. So far, clips circulating online have shown the likes of Magneton and Hisuian starters spawning in the zone. Fans are speculating that other Electric-types or computer-centric ‘mons like Rotom and Porygon might also be found here. It makes sense given the overall time and space theme, with distortions giving trainers access to a different timeline or dimension.

Although a little more far-fetched, fans have also suggested that the distortion zones may give you higher chances of finding Shiny Pokémon. Players won't have to wait long until they can figure out just what these space-time distortions are all about, and whether trainers have to risk their health to enter electricity-filled dome. Pokémon Legends Arceus will be arriving on January 28, 2022.
