Prison Escapee Clint Butler almost got away from his 17-year extended prison sentence. Unfortunately, the genius escape artist turned foolish when he wanted the new Call of Duty title. Imagine breaking quarantine and hunting for a game while being an escaped convict. Thankfully, Police officers found, identified, and apprehended Butler. He will return to the HMP Spring Hill open prison in Buckinghamshire. The allure of physical game copies cannot be a proper excuse to break quarantine. Truthfully, the lockdown makes people do strange things.

ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY

Butler received the 17-year extended prison sentence due to several cases of robbery and firearms offenses. The sentence would have wrapped up in 2024 but the 36-year-old convict had other plans. When asked about his plan of picking up a game during quarantine, Butler simply responded with “I’ve come to get the new Call of Duty because I can’t sit around in lockdown.”

The assailant initially offered a false name to the police officers. Fortunately, the police personnel successfully identified him which led to the physical encounter caught on video. The officers successfully subdued Butler after the scuffle. Superintendent Nick Rowe praised the officer's actions. Additionally, he emphasized the relatively peaceful conclusion of the altercation.

“This was great work by our officers, acting on instinct that there was something not quite right and then challenging the men. The situation escalated really quickly, but both PCs put their training to good effect by restraining Butler, subduing him and getting him safely in handcuffs, while also calling for back-up from officers nearby.”

The assailant absolutely planned for failure with his in-person game store venture. The journey for a physical copy of Call of Duty ultimately resulted in his apprehension. Subsequently, Supt Rowe questioned the assailant's motives that resulted in his foolish course of action.  Additionally, Butler received an extra 13 months for the prison escape and another six months for assaulting the police. The quick actions of the officers resulted in the rightful end to the weird encounter. Butler wanted to have something to do during lockdown but he will be returning to prison.

Call of Duty is available digitally with a good enough internet connection. Ultimately, players can get their favorite titles from home. Please reconsider going outside for such a foolish reason.
