Following the disappointing end to the 2017 season, the Oakland Raiders made some major changes to their organization, and Pro Bowl guard Kelechi Osemele can't wait to get started. The Raiders parted ways with head coach Jack Del Rio after three seasons, opening the door for the big-splash hire of Jon Gruden as his replacement.

This move created a significant amount of buzz around the franchise, which Osemele hopes will lead to a rekindled spark on the team, according to Paul Guiterrez of ESPN.

“He brings a lot of energy,” Osemele said. “I think that’s what we need right now. That’s the biggest change — the energy. I think it’s going to be high intensity. I think it’s going to be really detail-oriented, from what I’ve heard. That’s just the vibe I’m getting. It’s going to be very, very detail-oriented, and I think it’s going to be good for us.”

The Raiders took a significant step back in 2017, finishing with a 6-10 record while dropping their last four games to push them entirely out of the playoff picture. Expectations were high after the team snapped a 14-year playoff hiatus in 2016 with a 12-4 record, generating a great deal of optimism for the future.

Oakland is hoping to recapture that same feeling with the hiring of a big-name head coach in Gruden. Although he hasn't held this role, or any coaching job, since 2008 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he still holds a tremendous amount of respect around the league. He remained close to the game despite his absence from the sideline as the color commentator for ESPN's Monday Night Football coverage.

There is no certainty that Gruden will have success in his second stint with the franchise, but it's clear that there is a renewed sense of excitement and focus around the organization.
