The Oakland Raiders selected running back Josh Jacobs in the first round of the NFL Draft back in April with the hope that he would be a significant contributor heading into 2019, but it looks like we have to put all of that on hold for now.

Jacobs remains the only unsigned Raiders draft pick, and according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, negotiations have not been going well and there is a growing feeling that Jacobs will not be with the team when training camp opens on July 23.

Tafur notes that the issue between both sides seems to be the signing bonus.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock was not available for comment.

Jacobs, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was chosen 24th overall by Oakland, a pick that was viewed as a head-scratcher by some given Jacobs' rather underwhelming production on the NCAA level.

The 21-year-old is coming off of a junior campaign in which he rushed for 640 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 20 passes for 247 yards and three scores.

Jacobs arrived at Alabama back in 2016, and during his freshman season, he totaled 567 yards and four scores while registering 6.7 yards per attempt. Then, the following year, he took a big step back, recording just 284 yards while reaching the end zone once.

The Raiders certainly need some help in the backfield, so if and when Jacobs signs, he will likely have a rather large role with the club this season, but whether or not he will be under contract before the start of training camp remains to be seen.
