The Los Angeles Rams are probably disappointed that they will miss this year’s playoffs, but they’ll surely be raring to come back and contend for the Super Bowl next year. One of the key players for the Rams to be able to do that will be Aaron Donald.

He’s been a quality component to the Rams defensive line, and he will be the main man for their next campaign. He’s been playing so well that former defensive coordinator Wade Phillips believes that he will easily get the famous yellow jacket once he hangs up his cleats.

Phillips talked about how great Donald has played throughout his career, per Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva:

“Aaron Donald obviously is one of the great players in the game today, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, surefire Hall of Famer – and a great person,” Phillips said. “And that’s the great thing about the really great ones that I’ve coached. They’re not only great players but they were great people.”

Donald been a consistent, high-level defensive player ever since coming into the league in 2014. He’s been a staple face in the Pro Bowl, and he’s been named as a First Team All-Pro for his entire career sans his rookie season.

He had a fantastic showing this year as well. He finished with 48 tackles, 12.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

Fans can expect his career numbers to balloon even further as he still has a couple of years of his peak left. And if the Rams manage to properly retool in the offseason, there’s a good chance that he’ll have an opportunity to put a Super Bowl ring on his finger.
