The Los Angeles Rams have been optimistic about the status of wide receiver Cooper Kupp. However, it appears he is set to miss another week while he nurses a knee sprain.

Cupp suffered the injury after a horse-collar tackle versus the Denver Broncos in Week 6. Head coach Sean McVay indicated that he may sit out another week, via the Rams official Twitter.

McVay: Cooper Kupp is doubtful for Sunday but is making good progress.

The update is certainly not an encouraging one. Los Angeles had hope that Cupp would be able to make his return after missing last week's game versus the San Francisco 49ers. However, it appears the Rams are taking a cautious approach with his recovery. This may be more beneficial in the long run considering the expectations in Los Angeles this year.

Kupp had arguably been the Rams' best receiver and was undoubtedly quarterback Jared Goff's favorite target before the injury. He has already hauled in 30 receptions for 438 yards and five touchdowns this season. However, it is clear that Los Angeles would much rather wait until he is 100 percent healthy to return.

Kupp's absence will surely be felt once again. Fortunately, the Rams are able to alleviate the void with their tremendous depth in the receiving corps. Wide receivers Josh Reynold and Nick Williams saw plenty of snaps against San Francisco. Although they combined for just three receptions and 36 yards, it is safe to assume they will be much more involved this time around. Meanwhile, wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods will head the group once again. That said, the offense should have no problem maintaining their high level of play against a porous Green Bay Packers defense.
