During a press conference on Friday, running back Todd Gurley expressed that his former team, the Los Angeles Rams, still owes him money.

“I still need my money. That’s what I’m waiting on. . . . It’s all fun and games. But I do need my money,” Gurley said Friday, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

According to ESPN, the Rams are in full compliance with the language in the players’ contracts. When the Rams cut Gurley, they owed him a $7.55 million roster bonus. However, because of the offset language in Gurley’s contract, they do not have to pay him $2.5 million of what is owed. Despite that, they would still need to pay Gurley the remaining money on his contract.

Gurley, who played a vital role with the Rams, was released by them over the decline in his play in the 2019 NFL campaign. In 2018, Gurley suffered a knee injury and hasn’t looked liked the same player since.

This past season, his per-carry average went from 4.9 to 3.8. As a result, the 25-year-old recorded a career-low 857 yards and 12 touchdowns. Nevertheless, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has said that he is not concerned about Gurley’s knee issues. He also said he's “very comfortable” with the state of Gurley's knee.

Gurley has played outstanding in his four seasons with the Rams, rushing for at least 1,100 yards in three of his five seasons and totaling 70 touchdowns. Gurley was also named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and a first-team All-Pro in 2017 and 2018.
