Rory McIlroy and playing partner Jon Rahm were minding their own business as they prepared for their round at the Scottish Open when a random man walked by McIlroy's bag and brazenly stole a club and a club cover from it. As everybody looked on in bewilderment, the man walked over to the 10th tee for some practice swings.

Check out the wild and honestly hilarious scene:

Security eventually stepped in and escorted the man away from Rory McIlroy's group, booting him from the course in the process.

talkSPORT has more details on the incident:

An onlooker told The Scotsman: “He was standing at the back of the tee and went over to Rory’s bag, took out the driver [sic] and had a couple of swings with it.

“When someone told him that he couldn’t do that, he replied by saying ‘why not?’ At that point, the security people assigned to following the group moved in and took him away.”

David Wilson, a member of nearby club Kilspindie who posted the footage, added: “He was quickly dealt with. The players laughed it off, saying they knew he wasn’t a golfer when they saw his grip.”

This had to be quite the shock for Rory McIlroy and Co., and his reaction to the man is amazing. You can tell just how confused he was that somebody would have the guts to just walk by and steal his club. The same can be said of Rahm and McIlroy's caddie. What a way to start a round.

In terms of the actual golf at the Scottish Open, McIlroy is hoping to make a big move on the leaderboard. He shot a 1-under 70 in Round 1, placing him six strokes back of leader Jack Senior. Rahm sits at 5-under, with their other playing partner, Justin Thomas, sitting at 6-under.
