Why The Rangers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Texas Rangers are currently third in the American League West standings, sitting 6.5 games back of the leading Seattle Mariners. Their season has been marked by up-and-down stretches and after a recent five-game losing skid, they've bounced back with four consecutive wins heading into this series. Their record against NL teams this year is just 15-17 and they're 17-21 in their road games, so they come into this series as the rightful underdogs. Still, they've scored 21 runs over their last four and their pitching staff has two consecutive shutouts, riding the hot hands.

Andrew Heaney will make his 15th start of the season with a tough 1-3 record to show for it. His 2-8 overall record has come by way of poor starts early into games and he's had a tough time digging himself out of holes. Still, he was able to lead the Rangers to a win his last time out with the support of his bats behind him. This pitching staff has been riddled with injuries all season, but their momentum from the last two games could carry over into this series as the Rangers keep finding ways to win.

Why The Brewers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Milwaukee Brewers are leading the pack in the National League Central and they've got a comfortable five-game lead over the next-best St. Louis Cardinals. They actually have the third-best record in the National League, ranking third league-wide in on-base percentage at .331. Their entire lineup is crushing the ball at the moment, led by players like Brice Turang, William Contreras, and Willy Adames. The Brewers also have the fifth-best batting average in the MLB and they'll be looking to bounce back after a tough 1-3 series loss against the San Diego Padres.

The Brewers will send Bryse Wilson to the mound for his 10th start of the season. He's made appearances in relief roles, amassing a positive 4-3 record through the season with just as many relief opportunities. He's been used much more on the road and while his ERA is slightly higher in opposing ballparks, he's kept his numbers modest and given the Brewers chances to fight back. Look for him to make a shorter appearance in this one as they continue to deal with injuries to their starting rotation.

Final Rangers-Brewers Prediction & Pick

The Texas Rangers have had a season of runs so far and they're currently on an upswing with their bats and pitching as of late. While the Milwaukee Brewers continue to dominate the NL Central, they've fallen into a bit of a hole during the last few series against top National League teams.

Overall, neither of these pitchers have had memorable seasons thus far with Andrew Heaney struggling as of late and Bryse Wilson making most of his latest appearances in relief. Wilson certainly works better on the road, but he should still given the Brewers a slight advantage with how consistently he's been able to keep his balls. The Brewers are bound to wake up from their slump sooner rather than later, and this could be the series they do it in.

Still, the Texas Rangers are hot at the moment and come into this game outscoring their opponents 13-0 over the last two games. Andrew Heaney has certainly had his troubles this year, but the recent momentum from their bullpen could give him the confidence to go out their and turn in a good start.

For our final prediction, let's side with the Texas Rangers to get the win on the road as underdogs.
