The Toronto Raptors will be looking to get a win streak going on Friday when they host the surprising Indiana Pacers. However, they will also be welcoming a familiar face to the Air Canada Centre as well.

Making his way back is Pacers point guard and Toronto native Cory Joseph. Among current Raptors players to offer up their praises for Joseph is All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan, according to Doug Smith of thestar.com:

DeMar DeRozan says Cory Joseph is “the smoothest” guy to have come through the Raptors organization in the nine years DeRozan has been with the team, and that’s high praise because smooth is cool.

Raptors backup guard Fred VanVleet also credited Joseph for taking on a mentorship role for him and teammate Delon Wright.

“For a guy in his position, with me and Delon kind of on his heels a little bit, he never had a bad attitude about it,” VanVleet said. “He was helping us along the way, which was really rare to find a guy in that position, to help the young guys that were kind of coming for his spot. He was still helping us.”

Joseph signed with his hometown Raptors as a free agent prior to the 2015-16 NBA season. Needless to say, he made quite the impression in his brief two-year tenure in Toronto.

Aside from averaging career-highs in points, assists, and rebounds last season, it is clear that the impact he made on the franchise went far beyond the hardwood. However, he was traded during the summer to essentially make room for forward C.J. Miles. That said, do not expect to see Joseph go lightly on his former team.
