San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan faced off with his old team and saw a new and improved OG Anunoby. After the game, DeRozan shared his thoughts on the Toronto Raptors forward's improvement.

Per Josh Lewenberg of TSN, DeRozan revealed that he actually worked out with Anunoby last summer. The Spurs guard recalled that just a few years ago, Anunoby was like a “cardboard box.” Now, Anunoby has turned into a versatile player.

“He started out stiff as a cardboard box. Now to see how he handles the ball, how he drives the ball, his post game. I saw him a lot this summer, we worked out a lot, and to see his skill set grow from where I first saw it speaks volumes,” DeRozan said of his ex-Raptors teammate.

“He's come a long way. He deserves everything that comes his way. I hope he keeps growing. It's fun to see that, it's fun to compete against that, and I'm glad I was a part of his career early on.”

These are great words from DeMar DeRozan. Even after the tough 117-112 loss, he still had the presence of mind to praise his old teammate. DeRozan himself had 19 points and 11 assists. Meanwhile, OG Anunoby led all scorers with 22 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.

Though the Raptors haven't' been looking as good as they were a few years ago, the fact that Anunoby and the rest of the roster are squeezing out great performances is a good sign. In time, Toronto should be back to contender status once again.
