Kyle Lowry had his teammate's back after Pascal Siakam basically lost it for the Toronto Raptors on Sunday against the New York Knicks.

Lowry didn't throw Siakam under the bus and mentioned after the game that Siakam's costly mistake in the Raptors' final possession is something they should not really dwell on.

“He was about to make a pass and decided to go. It happens. It's a mistake that happened and it happens,” Lowry said on Siakam's late blunder, via Josh Lewenberg of TSN. “It's a tough situation but we can't dwell on it. It is what it is. He double-dribbled and that was that.”

With New York holding the possession while up by two with just 15 seconds left in regulation, Lowry made a crucial play on the defensive end and stole the ball. The Raptors point guard then led the break and found Siakam who had more than enough room to create with a 3-on-2 advantage in transition. Unfortunately, Spicy P ended up with a dribbling violation after double-guessing himself and hesitating on whether or not to give the ball up or go strong to the hoop.

Pascal Siakam even wanted Nick Nurse to challenge the call, but the Raptors coach Nurse gave him a shrug, short of saying that it was clearly a turnover. The former Most Improved Player ended up fouling out from the game with 16 points, seven assists and five turnovers–including that late dribbling violation.

To Kyle Lowry's point, these things happen and the best thing the Raptors (and Siakam) can do right now is to just move on and learn from this.
