Every NBA season has its own fair share of injuries, but — as you might have noticed — this particular year has been nasty. Gordon Hayward had his misfortune on opening day last October, and it just snowballed into a crazy amount for the rest of the league. Monday night, though not as severe as Hayward's, it was unfortunately Kyle Lowry's turn. The Toronto Raptors All-Star was on his usual aggressive mode when he slammed back first into the ground.

Thankfully, though, Lowry doesn't seem to be seriously hurt, as he sounded relaxed rather than concerned after the play. Here's what Eric Koreen of The Athletic Toronto overheard while the guard was being carried out:

The fall happened with just 1:09 left in the all-crucial overtime period, and Lowry, who at that point, was having his typical stat line of 18 points and 11 assists, wasn't able to return. His teammates, however, made sure that his big effort was not going to waste. The Raptors edged past the Brooklyn Nets with cardiac 114-113 finish, thanks to DeMar DeRozan completing a go-ahead and-one play with only 26 ticks remaining.

It's not clear yet whether Lowry is going to miss an extended period – although it might be safe to assume that he'll sit out tomorrow's meeting with the Miami Heat. Whether he does or doesn't, there will be a hole in the Raptors on both ends. He is, after all, parading all-around numbers of 16.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.9 threes per game on the season.

Kyle Lowry, along with backcourt partner DeMar DeRozan, are quietly powering the Raptors into having the second-best record (28-10) in the Eastern Conference to go along with the best home record (14-1) in the NBA.
