The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver group took another hit when it was announced on Wednesday that rookie first round pick Rashod Bateman will be out “weeks” after sustaining a leg injury.

Marquise Brown, Miles Boykin and Deon Cain are three other wideouts for the Ravens who have already missed practice time this week. Now Bateman has been added to the list.

Via Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided some clarity to the injury.

“I don't know how many [weeks],” Harbaugh said. “It's not going to be months, but it will be weeks and we'll see where we're at.”

Bateman was a highly touted draft prospect after a stellar career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Ravens were able to scoop him up with the No. 27 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Bateman was expected to get plenty of early reps for Baltimore but now that will be put on hold.

The rookie posted his own reaction to his Instagram stories.

“This is tough with it being the first injury in my career, but I trust that God has a plan for me,” Bateman posted on his Instagram stories. “The future is bright, and this is just a small bump in the road. My eyes are set on getting right back to help this team. Be back soon.”

With the preseason set to begin for the Ravens, they will still have a few weeks to try and get as healthy as possible before they take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1. It sounds as though Bateman will be a long shot to be ready by then.
