Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will almost certainly be playing elsewhere in 2021, and a lot of teams will be calling to make offers. While the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins have been rumored as favorites, the New England Patriots need to pick up the phone and throw an offer out there for Watson.

The Patriots missed the playoffs for the first time in what seems like forever, and the Cam Newton experiment didn’t go as planned. Jarrett Stidham doesn’t look like the quarterback of the future for New England either, and Tom Brady left a GOAT-sized hole in Foxborough.

With that being said, the Patriots need to at the very least make an offer, and whether the Texans accept or not is up to them, but it helps that Watson holds a full no-trade clause and can essentially pick where he goes next year.

What would a Patriots package for Watson look like?

Although it was reported that the Texans want two firsts and two defensive starters in a Watson package, this would be a talking point for both sides, and one the Texans really consider.

While it’s not three firsts, the Texans would be ecstatic to add Jackson, who finished with the second-most interceptions in the NFL in 2020 and is only 25 years old. Stidham could at least give the Texans a bridge option at quarterback, and Harry is a solid receiver who has battled injury and concussions early in his career.

The first-rounder in 2021 would give the Texans a chance at a lineman, quarterback, or even Kyle Pitts if he falls that far, and this would be a huge get for the Texans.

More picks and perhaps a better offensive skill player for a position the Texans really need.

Just a year ago they flipped DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson in a rather confusing move, and the older Johnson gets, the more evident it is that the Texans need another running back.

The Patriots have James White, Rex Burkhead, and Sony Michel in the backfield along with Harris, and they are also pretty fond of JJ Taylor, so one of their backs is going to be playing elsewhere next season.

If the Patriots want Watson then Jackson will undoubtedly be a starting point in any conversation, and a move the Patriots wouldn’t think twice about if they can land a top-5 quarterback to pair with Bill Belichick.

This is the offer of all offers for the Texans. They get four firsts, a young defensive starter, and a young running back and wide receiver to pair with their new quarterback, whoever it is.

For the Patriots this might be what it takes, assuming Watson wants to play in New England. Belichick hasn’t drafted too well in recent years, and if the Patriots are competitive at all in the next few years then those firsts won’t be very high picks.

This is a massive haul, but Watson is worth it and would immediately throw the Patriots right back into contention in the AFC East. It will be interesting to see just where the disgruntled star will end up.
