Kyle Schwarber is on par to finally make his first appearance with the Boston Red Sox.

Schwarber has been out of action since early July due to a notable hamstring injury that he suffered during a matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The former Nationals slugger was dealt with this injury after rounding first base following a key single in the game.

Even with the noteworthy injury concern, the Red Sox still elected to acquire Schwarber from the Nationals ahead of the recent trade deadline.

After a notable wait, Schwarber will be in the Red Sox lineup today for their key matchup against the Baltimore Orioles after being activated off the injured list. This comes less than a week after he suffered a minor groin injury.

Boston sure hopes that Schwarber can help provide a much-needed spark to the team. The Red Sox have essentially been in roller-coaster form as of late, as they hold a 3-7 record in their last 10 games. Still, the Red Sox are now slowly beginning to replicate their impressive offensive production from the first half of the season, especially following their 20-run outburst against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

For Schwarber, he surely will be looking to build on the performances he had over the month of June, where he recorded an astounding 16 home runs and 30 RBI over 27 games played.

In the big picture, the Red Sox are now heading into the stretch run of the season. They will have plenty of work to do in order to sneak into the playoffs, as they hold a mere two-game lead over the New York Yankees for the second wild-card spot in the American League.
