Freddie Freeman is one of the hottest names left in MLB Free Agency and after the Atlanta Braves traded for Matt Olson, that means Freeman will most certainly be signing elsewhere. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Boston Red Sox appear to be the last teams in the mix for the 2021 World Series champion after the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees shifted their focus elsewhere.

According to Jon Heyman, the Red Sox are “very much in the mix” for Freeman:

The Red Sox currently have Bobby Dalbec at first base, but Freeman would undoubtedly be an upgrade. The veteran slugger hit .300 last season with 31 homers and 83 RBI, helping the Braves win a WS title. Adding Freeman to the fold at Fenway would give Boston a scary core in the middle of their lineup, with Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, and J.D. Martinez already occupying the heart of their order.

Freeman is looking for a six-year deal that would take him to 39-years-old, but it's unknown if the Red Sox would be willing to offer that. The Dodgers are always a team with a boatload of money and he did grow up in California.

Nevertheless, the Red Sox would be absolutely thrilled if they can lure in a superstar like Freddie Freeman to help them make a Fall Classic run in 2022.
