Joey Votto is having a fantastic season with the Cincinnati Reds and he's one of the big reasons why his team is still in contention for a spot in the postseason.  He is in the middle of his best season since he last made the All-Star in 2018, and he's doing it at 37 years old. If the Reds are to make the boat to the playoffs, they need their MVP to continue stepping up the rest of the way, including in Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, and that would require the veteran first baseman to sort of exorcise his demons against a particular pitcher who has repeatedly befuddled him in the form of Brett Anderson.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Anderson has done a pretty good job at taking away Votto's power.

Joey Votto, who leads all players in Slug pct since the All-Star Break, faces off against Brewers probable starter Brett Anderson on Thursday.

Votto's .217 slug pct against Anderson is his lowest against any active pitcher he's faced 20 times.

Since the All-Star break, Votto has slashed .311/.417/.733. So far this season, The Reds star is hitting .278/.375 /.567. Those are great numbers but given Anderson's dominance in his career matchup against Votto, it's likely that the former will get the better of the latter again. Votto is just 4-for-23 in 23 career at-bats against Anderson. He has been struck out three times by Anderson and has gotten a walk just once.

Still, with the season Votto is having, Wednesday's game could be where he finally solves the Brewers' lefty.
