The Washington Redskins are entering the 2020 NFL season as a team expected to end up with yet another high draft pick. While they have made some good moves that will pay off and make them a better team, they are not going to contend for the playoffs this season barring a major surprise. Stranger things have happened, but Washington should keep their expectations tempered.

Heading into this season, there will be a lot of eyes on second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins. He is taking over as the clear-cut starter and the team's decision to pass on a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft proves that they view him as their long-term, franchise answer at the position.

Haskins was able to play in nine games during his rookie season. His numbers weren't great, but he did show flashes of big-time potential. When the 2019 had wrapped, he completed 58.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Washington has seen Haskins work extremely hard this offseason to get into shape for the 2020 season. It is obvious that he wants to take a big step forward to prove all of his supporters right for believing in him.

Take a look at the brief video that shows Haskins looking great and dropping a dime:

Let's take a look at three major questions Haskins must answer in his second season and first full year as the Redskins' starting quarterback.

3. Has His Decision-Making Improved?

One of the biggest hits on Haskins' record from his rookie season was his decision-making. He threw seven interceptions on the season in nine games, and a few of those were due to forced passes. Haskins cannot afford to make those same decisions in year two.

Improving decision-making skills is one of the most difficult tasks for young quarterbacks. Most of the time, they only improve that area of their game with repetition during actual games. Washington must hope that Haskins can show improvement as the season moves forward.

Haskins doesn't need to be perfect and no one will expect him to be. However, showing steps of improvement throughout the year is something that the Redskins need to see.

2. Does He Possess NFL Leadership Skills?

Another major key for the young quarterback this season will be showing improved leadership ability. One of the most important aspects of an NFL quarterback's skill-set is the ability to make players better around him and get players to play harder for him.

Let's be clear: We are not knocking the leadership that Haskins displayed during his rookie season. In fact, he showed signs of being a great leader for a young team. But, in year two, leadership needs to progress at an obvious pace.

Haskins needs to take better control of his team at the line of scrimmage and he needs to take his teammates to a new level. The best quarterbacks in the game like Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and others always make their receivers look better. If the Redskins can start getting that from Haskins, they will be in a great place.

1. Is He Capable Of Big-Time Passing Numbers

Finally, the most obvious question that Haskins needs to answer comes from a numbers perspective. Can he be the kind of quarterback that powers his offense to being one of the most productive in the league?

Haskins should be targeting at least 3,500 to 4,000 passing yards in his second NFL season. He should also be looking for at least 25 touchdowns and limiting his interception total to 12 or fewer. If he can accomplish that goal, he will take the step that the Redskins need.

Also, Haskins should focus on improving his completion percentage to at least 60 percent. Making the jump from 58.6 to 60 percent is far from impossible. Those statistical improvements would signify the much-needed leap from year one to year two.
