There was a time when you could pencil in Adrian Peterson for 1,000 rushing yards at the start of every season. However, the past couple of years have certainly been trying for the running back.

In 2017, Peterson finished with just 529 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals and looked cooked due to persistent knee injuries that resulted in the Minnesota Vikings parting ways with him the preceding offseason.

However, this past season, Peterson had a renaissance year, racking up 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns for the Washington Redskins, leading to the Redskins rewarding him with a new contract earlier this month.

Still, even though Peterson had a terrific bounce back year in 2018, the 32-year-old feels it should have been even better.

“I feel like last year was just a decent season, like for me in my mind,” Peterson said, according to Kyle Stackpole of the Redskins' official team website. “People were like, ‘Wow, you did incredible, you had 1,000 yards.’ And I’m like, ‘Man, I should have had 15, 16 hundred yards.”

While 1,500 yards is probably stretching it, as he has only achieved that mark twice in his career, it's great to see Peterson relevant again.

The Palestine, Tx. native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by the Vikings with the seventh overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Peterson went on to make seven Pro Bowl appearances while earning four First-Team All-Pro selections during his 10-year run in Minnesota, leading the league in rushing three times.
