There is a chance that Alex Smith's career is over, but that hasn't stopped him from showing up to be with his Washington Redskins teammates during OTA's.

The Redskins official Twitter account tweeted out a few photos of Smith on the practice field laughing with coaches and even throwing the football.

One thing noticeable about the picture is it doesn't show his leg, so it's unclear exactly what kind of equipment he has. Earlier this week he was wearing external fixator, but it's unclear if that is still the case.

Smith suffered a devastating leg injury on November 18th, 2018, in a loss against the Houston Texans. He underwent the initial procedure and then had to go through a few more to remove some infected tissue.

It seems like a long shot that he will ever play in the NFL again, but team president Bruce Allen said in January that he was still holding out hope.

“Well, let me say this, I appreciate the love and the care that all of our fans have reached out to him … NFL players around the league … with this injury … it's a tough thing for him and his family, but all the love and care has helped him quite a bit,” said Allen via 247 Sports. “We'll see where it goes, we're optimistic, if anyone can come back it's Alex. I'm sure he wanted to shoot hoops at the game yesterday, but we'll see.”

Smith still has a long ways to go in recovery, but it's just good at this point to see him back with the team with a smile on his face.
