The Washington Redskins did a solid job of staying within striking distance during the first half of their showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, it appears they have been forced to make some significant changes under center.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, quarterback Dwayne Haskins is slated to start the second half with quarterback Case Keenum in concussion protocol:

Dwayne Haskins is in the game to start the third quarter because Case Keenum is in the concussion protocol.

It is difficult to pinpoint when exactly Keenum had sustained the injury. Regardless, Haskins will now be tasked with trying to lead a comeback starting in the third quarter.

This matchup had been billed as somewhat of a revenge game for Keenum since he had been replaced by quarterback Kirk Cousins after leading the Vikings to the NC Championship Game during the 2017 NFL season. Although he managed to complete 12-of-16 passes for 130 yards before his exit, he committed some costly errors that prevent Washington from putting some more points on the board.

Haskins will now be tasked with taking over once again since his abysmal career debut against the New York Giants in Week 4 that saw him throw for a mere 107 yards and three interceptions. He will now have his work cut out trying to redeem himself against this formidable Vikings defense.

The Redskins have made it clear that they would like to take a cautious approach with his development. Regardless, instances such as these will provide some insight on whether or not he shows the promise of a future franchise quarterback.
