The Washington Redskins receiving corps was dealt a blow with the loss of Kelvin Harmon for the 2020 NFL season. It appears free agent wide receiver Josh Gordon is hoping for an opportunity to fill the void.

Gordon responded to the report of Harmon suffering a torn ACL by indicating his interest in Washington, via SkinsMo:

Washington ushered in a bit of a youth movement to their receiving corps with the arrival of head coach Ron Rivera this offseason. Despite all the promising, young talented they accumulated, there have been rumors about Rivera's interest in securing a proven veteran to help balance this group out.

Gordon's promising career has long been derailed by off-field issues. He has not played since being suspended by the NFL last December for a substance abuse violation during his brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks. He is still in the midst of applying for reinstatement this offseason following the fifth suspension of his career.

Gordon's track record proves he remains as a high-risk. high-reward player for any team interest in adding him to their offense. After all, there is no denying all that he brings to the table with his rare blend of size and speed.

The Redskins put an emphasis on shoring up the supporting cast for quarterback Dwayne Haskins in what will be his first full season as a starter. Although they may have a surplus of budding, young talent at receiver, a healthy Gordon could be just what they need to put it over the top.
