The Washington Redskins have reportedly not reached out to Colin Kaepernick regarding their need for additional help at the quarterback position.

With the Redskins now down two quarterbacks due to season-ending injuries to both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy, the team must now turn to Mark Sanchez to lead the way moving forward.

But while Washington is clearly struggling at the position right now, it doesn't sound like Kaepernick has been approached about the possibility of joining the franchise.

From ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter:

Head coach Jay Gruden said the injury-ravaged Washington Redskins “talked about and discussed” signing Colin Kaepernick this past week, but no one from the team reached out to the free-agent quarterback, a source told ESPN.

In fact, despite multiple teams' need for quarterbacks throughout the season, not one team has reached out to Kaepernick to gauge his interest or arrange a workout, according to a league source.

Kaepernick last played in the NFL in 2016 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, where he threw for 2,241 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding two rushing scores. He has 12,271 passing yards and 72 touchdowns for his career.

But the Redskins will now hope that Sanchez can produce in an effective manner, as they still remain in the playoff race with a 6-6 record.

The team will return to the field on Sunday for a divisional matchup with the New York Giants, which is essentially a must-win for Washington if it wants to have a chance to return to the postseason.
