The Washington Redskins made sure Montez Sweat's draft night slide wouldn't last any longer. After using the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, Washington completed a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to get back into the first round and take the Mississippi State pass-rusher at No. 26.

Washington sent Indianapolis the 46th overall pick and a 2020 second-round selection. The Colts have a whopping nine picks remaining in this draft, including three in the second round, beginning with No. 34.

Sweat's draft stock was at an all-time high in the immediate aftermath of his standout performance at the NFL combine. The 6-foot-6, 260-pounder tested among the best overall athletes in Indianapolis, regardless of position, blazing to a 4.41 40-yard dash, leaping 36 inches in the vertical jump, and reaching 125 inches in the broad jump.

In March it was revealed that doctors in Indianapolis diagnosed Sweat with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that leads to the heart pumping blood less efficiently than normal. His draft stock immediately took a major hit, with some teams taking him off their boards altogether. Before his diagnosis, there was no way Sweat was going to last until late in the first round. Word began spreading early on Thursday, however, that Sweat might have been misdiagnosed, a mistake made by an inaccurate measurement of his heart wall.

Obviously, expect the Redskins to do further diligence on Sweat's health situation. If his diagnosis was indeed incorrect, though, Washington might have gotten the steal of the draft.
