In what comes as one of the worst reports possible on a Monday, Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller might lose his leg in surgery. This is not hyperbole. This is a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

For some context as to why he is having the surgery in the first place:

Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller was carted off the field in the third quarter of Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Saints after suffering a left knee injury. Nothing too abnormal about that, as — unfortunately — players get carted off all the time. As we know now, with the report, this one is extra crazy.

Bears coach John Fox said following the game that Miller dislocated his knee and will spend the night in the hospital.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him,” he said.

Obviously, Fox had no idea the severity of the injury at the time of the postgame presser.

The injury happened on a play in which it appears Miller caught a TD, but it was later ruled in incompletion.

“Obviously we are all familiar with the process of a catch at this point. So we ruled that he was going to the ground as part of the process of the catch. So when he goes to the ground, he has to survive the ground,” official Carl Cheffers explained. “He went to the ground, he temporarily lost control of the ball. The ball hit the ground, therefore it's incomplete.

Regardless, that stuff is unimportant. Here is to hoping Zach Miller makes it through surgery OK and fully intact.
