The Los Angeles Clippers have been active in this free agency window. In a series of moves, ranging from the trade of Chris Paul to the signing of forward Danilo Gallinari, they have changed their roster significantly. Players like Jamal Crawford, JJ Redick and the aforementioned Paul, who have been a part of their roster for a long time, will not play for the Clippers.

However, the Clippers are not ready to let go of postseason basketball. In return for Paul, they received some solid players, most notably guards Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, and they also re-signed All-Star Blake Griffin. Along with them, the team now has a proper starting small forward in Gallinari, solving a long-term issue of the team. But, even with all those moves,  there are significant holes on the roster yet to be fixed.

As David Aldridge reports, the Clippers have engaged the Grizzlies for a possible sign-and-trade for guard Tony Allen. Allen is a proven elite defender who lacks a consistent offensive game, but has averaged 9.1 points per game last year for the Grizzlies.

One more interesting thing about Allen and the Clippers is that he and the Clippers head coach and President of Basketball Operations, Doc Rivers, have history together. Allen played for the 2007-08 championship-winning Boston Celtics under coach Rivers. After his contract expired in 2010, Allen signed for the Grizzlies and stayed there for seven years, making the playoffs in all seven seasons.

Due to an right calf injury, Allen did not feature in the 4-2 defeat the Grizzlies suffered in the first round of this year's playoffs.
