While the Los Angeles Lakers may have a long list of head coaching candidates, they can check one name who is at least interested in the job.

Mark Medina of LA Daily News reports that University of Connecticut basketball head coach Kevin Ollie is “intrigued” by the Lakers' head coaching vacancy. The vacancy opened up when Los Angeles fired Byron Scott on Sunday after just two years as head coach of the franchise.

The 43-year-old Ollie has been with the Huskies for the past four seasons and won a national championship in 2014. He signed a five-year extension following the national championship win, which means he has three years left on his deal.

However, according to Medina, Ollie has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for another team without negotiating a buyout. Having said that, those terms would not go into effect until March 2017.

Ollie also has roots in the Los Angeles area, having lived in South Central Los Angeles and having played basketball at Crenshaw High.

Although the Lakers don't appear to be close to hiring their next head coach, Ollie is definitely a name worth watching in the coming weeks.
