It is no secret that the Jacksonville Jaguars have some major doubts under center. Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan feels quarterback Tyrod Taylor could have been the solution.

Jacksonville's frustrations at quarterback have been magnified by their underwhelming start to the 2018 NFL season. Ryan said on ESPN's ‘Get Up!' that the Jaguars should do what they can to acquire Taylor.

“I would,” he said.

“The guy that is tailor-made for this right now is Tyrod Taylor. Who protects the football better than him? Nobody. Now, if that is the real problem right now, why wouldn't you go get him? You want to ground and pound? Here is a quarterback that can run the ball with you.”

On the surface, it may appear as though Ryan is just looking out for one of his former players. However, there is certainly plenty of truth to his comments.

The Jaguars are one of the most run-heavy teams in the entire league. Unfortunately, that has become much harder to do without a lack of a passing threat. Although Taylor has largely been a game-manager throughout his career, he is still more than capable of airing it out.

He was pegged as the clear-cut starter for the Browns until a slow start and overwhelming angst for quarterback Baker Mayfield led to his benching. Since Cleveland is not looking to revert back to Taylor any time soon, it would have made sense for them to get what they can for him.

However, the trade deadline passed on Tuesday without Jacksonville making a deal to acquire any help under center.
