Russell Westbrook has done it. He now has the most triple-doubles in a single season in NBA history.

With 4:18 left in the fourth quarter of his team's game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, the Oklahoma City Thunder star guard gave the perfect pass to a wide open Semaj Christon, who knocked down a three-pointer and allowed him to record his 10th assist of the night. It was his 42nd triple-double of the season, and is now at the top of that category, passing Oscar Robertson.

The Brodie received a standing ovation, which is rarely given to a visiting team's player. However, the Nuggets fans understood how big that play was and knew that they just witnessed history.

The 28-year-old UCLA product tried his best to achieve the feat last Friday versus the Phoenix Suns, but finished the game two assists shy. However, he was still able to make history on the night as he became the first player in 55 years to average a triple-double for the entire regular season.

Westbrook is definitely having a career year and a season for the ages. He is currently leading the league in scoring and has incredible averages of 31.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Has also led the Thunder to the playoffs, having secured the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

With the debate on who should win the MVP award still ongoing, Westbrook has definitely strengthened his case to win it as the feat, which was just a mere fantasy during the early stages of the season, has now been reached and became a reality.
