Former Minnesota Vikings interior offensive lineman Nick Easton is now a member of the New Orleans Saints. While departing Minnesota in favor of New Orleans, it is no secret that Easton will have some big shoes to fill upon eventually touching down in the bayou and tossing on a Saints uniform.

Of course, it is now widely known that former Saints center Max Unger surprisingly hung up his cleats for good this past week en route to retiring from the NFL. With the void left by Unger, it appears as though Easton can make an immediate impact in New Orleans.

During a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL, Easton spoke out about why he ultimately chose New Orleans over Minnesota. Not only that, but the veteran blocker also made a point to note that he can play both guard and center when called upon.

“If you look at a breakdown of my snaps with the Vikings, I was just about 50-50 between guard and center because if there was ever an injury at the center position, I would slide over in my time there,” Easton told Bob Papa and Charlie Weis on The Opening Drive. “I actually made my first start as a Viking as a center, so I’ve got pretty good experience at center.”

Alongside the upstart Los Angeles Rams, the Saints will more than likely enter the 2019-20 campaign as the co-favorites in the NFC.

“On my visit down there, I was just blown away with how knowledgeable and enthusiastic those coaches were,” Easton said. “And, obviously, you have a well-established offense and an unreal quarterback room that they have down there. It’s just going to be a huge benefit to everybody else on the team and it’s probably one of the most attractive parts about being a Saint.”

The Saints infamously finished just shy of reaching the Super Bowl in 2018-19.
