The New Orleans Saints announced their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday, according to Saints Wire.

Five linebackers, including Demario Davis and Zack Baun, were included on the initial 53-man roster. Davis, a one-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro selection, played and started in 17 games for the Saints in 2022. Six safeties were listed on the roster, including Tyrann Mathieu, J.T. Gray and rookie Jordan Howden.

The Saints announced a multitude of additions to their practice squad on Wednesday. Safety Johnathan Abram, offensive tackle Storm Norton and wide receiver Jontre Kirklin all signed practice squad contracts with New Orleans. Kirklin ended the preseason with a total of 127 receiving yards and nine receptions, according to Pro Football Focus.

Who is one sneaky roster cut survivor who could impact the Saints in 2023?

AT Perry

AT Perry was selected with the 195th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former Wake Forest receiver ended his Demon Deacon career with a total of 2,662 receiving yards and 28 receiving touchdowns, peaking at the 1,293 yards and 15 touchdowns he recorded during the 2021 season.

“A.T. Perry is someone that has grown tremendously during his time in Winston-Salem and he is truly someone that has invested in the process of what it takes to be successful,” Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson said, via an April release from GoDeacs.com. “He is a rangy, athletic receiver that has been one of the most productive in the Atlantic Coast Conference over the past two years.

“Additionally, his playmaking ability allowed our offense to stretch the field vertically and stress our opponents defense each possession. Specifically, his speed and route-running ability will allow him to find success with the New Orleans Saints and I look forward to following his career in the NFL.”

AT Perry played in three games and 130 total snaps during the 2023 NFL preseason, according to PFF. He played well during a 26-24 preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs, ending the outing with a team-leading 70 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

“It was good to see,” Saints head coach Dennis Allen said, via NewOrleansSaints.com. “I thought he stepped up and caught the ball well. I don't like him reaching for the goal line there at the end on his first touchdown, but it was good. He made a couple of contested catches and I thought he was able to run down the field, put his foot in the ground and come back and create some separation. I thought he played well.”

AT Perry would follow up his Week 1 preseason performance with a 22-receiving-yard performance against the Los Angeles Chargers and a 12-receiving-yard outing against the Houston Texans.

Six receivers made the initial 2023 roster. Michael Thomas and Chris Olave took up starting roles on the Saints' depth chart. Perry, Rashid Shaheed, Tre'Quan Smith and Keith Kirkwood rounded out the team's receiving options. Olave had a fantastic rookie season for the Saints in 2022, finishing the year with 1,042 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Thomas agreed to a restructured contract in January.

If Perry can carry over his preseason success, he may make a solid impact on a Saints offense that took 16th place in the NFL with 3,969 receiving yards in 2022, according to NFL.com. They placed ahead of the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, but fell behind the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
