To many, DK Metcalf presented himself as a first-round pick coming out of Ole Miss in April. However, injuries and a concerning lack of agility created his demise, as he went from an expected top-32 pick to a second-rounder, where the Seattle Seahawks scooped him up.

The Seahawks appear to have gotten a steal in Metcalf. He tallied 58 receptions for 900 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie and played all 16 games. His inaugural year performance stands as one of the best for a rookie in Seattle's history.

According to Andy Patton of the Seahawks Wire, Metcalf's abilities as a sidekick to No. 1 option Tyler Lockett made for one of the best receiving duos on Seahawks history. The two each tallied 900 or more yards, only the third time a duo has done that in franchise history, with the other two being Joey Galloway and Brian Blades in 1995 and Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham in 2016.

Though he certainly has work to do, Metcalf is proving to be a lethal addition to the Seahawks' offense. His size, speed, and surreal athleticism make him a nightmare to defend, even if his route-tree is less developed than others. In turn, he creates a deep-ball threat that quarterback Russell Wilson — one of the NFL's best deep throwers ever — tends to take advantage of.

One can only hope that Metcalf's rookie season will translate to the postseason. On Sunday, the Seahawks will travel East to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.
