After holding out for the entire NFL offseason, Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas reported to the team before the first game and said he would like to stay in Seattle, “if they want me.”

Thomas was key in the first game against the Denver Broncos even the team came away with a loss. He played most of the game even though he didn't play in any of the preseason, finishing the game with five tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups.

After the game, Thomas said he felt good, and he was happy that he decided to come back and play this year with the Seahawks.

“I felt good,” Thomas said, via Pro Football Talk. “I felt like my training with my brother and my team back home [in Texas] has been great, has been right on it. The only thing right now is my big toe hurts. My feet hurt. That’s about it.”

Thomas was looking for a new contract, but when the two sides could not agree to a new long-term deal, Thomas decided he didn't want to miss out on the money that was on the table this year.

“I talked to my agent,” Thomas said. “We understood that I had a lot of money on the line. I just couldn’t throw it away. So basically I decided to come back. I’m glad I did.”

Thomas is a free agent this offseason, and if the two sides were to agree, it would probably come after this season is finished.
