It goes without saying that the Seattle Seahawks are in the process of a  rebuild following their disappointing 2017 NFL season. Fortunately, the one position where their future is secure next year is at quarterback with Russell Wilson.

This may be the reason why those involved with the Seahawks organization were surprised to see general manager John Schneider make the trip to Wyoming's Pro Day to see quarterback Josh Allen throw. According to Aaron Levine of Fox Sports, Schneider clarified his visit to Wyoming by saying it was simply out of curiosity:

“I hadn't seen him play live. I was supposed to see him play in San Jose before we played San Francisco and he was injured and didn't play in the game, so I just wanted to go check him out.”

Schneider's comments indicate that his trip was nothing more than an innocent visit. However, the reason behind his adamancy to see Allen in person still remains to be seen.

Schneider's visit caught the attention of Wilson's camp in regard to his future with the team. Given all the changes that have happened this offseason, it is understandable that going to see a potential top-5 quarterback prospect would raise some eyebrows.

Wilson is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract. It goes without saying that another healthy, productive season will earn him a massive payday next offseason. However, given the state of the Seahawks franchise, it will interesting to see if they choose to give him a lucrative deal amidst their current rebuild.
