Seattle Seahawks wide receiver David Moore was able to perform well last year. It seems he was able to impress head coach Pete Carroll going into the 2019 NFL season.

The retirement of wide receiver Doug Baldwin has left a notable void in the Seahawks' receiver corps. According to tom Michael-Shawn Duger of The Athletic, Carroll is hoping Moore can potentially serve as a viable replacement following his performance last season:

Moore can’t just disappear when there’s a competent defender across from him. That’s why it’s encouraging that Moore is learning the ‘Z’ (inside) receiver position as well as the X this year, expanding the way defenses will have to cover him.

“It’s like twice as much learning,” Carroll said of Moore. “We’re most excited about the fact it’s obvious he made a jump. That’s what we look for. Sometimes it happens between rookie and sophomore year … he’s ready now and that’s all that counts.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Carroll's comments. David Moore spent his rookie season battling for a spot on the active roster after being taken in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was finally able to take that next step last year, finishing the 2018 campaign with 26 receptions for 445 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite his inconsistent play, Moore was able to show plenty of flashes of potential throughout the season. Carroll's praise indicates that he has managed to carry a higher standard into the offseason. As a result, he could be primed for the No. 2 spot across from wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Moore is slated to compete with rookie wideout D.K. Metcalf for the job in training camp.
