It’s been a tumultuous Wednesday in Seattle. Alarm bells started ringing when Seahawks players started posting goodbyes to Richard Sherman on social media, prompting speculation that the star cornerback had been traded or cut.

However, Sherman has clarified that he has not been let go by the team, and that he’s not exactly sure what teammate Jeremy Lane’s tweet was about.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had reported that Sherman said his goodbyes to his teammates over the last 24 hours and that he wasn’t returning to the team next season. But as of the moment, nothing has been made official just yet by Sherman or the team.

While Sherman is still with the team, Michael Bennett is not. The veteran defensive end was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles along with a seventh-round pick for Philly's fifth-rounder and wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

Sherman’s future in Seattle has been under a lot of speculation this offseason. The All-Pro corner is still recovering from a torn Achilles and also had a procedure done on his other Achilles recently. There had also been speculation about safety Earl Thomas, although the Seahawks have since said they intend to keep Thomas.

Sherman, 29, has been with the Seahawks his entire seven-year career. He’s been a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro selection during that time and also helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl in franchise history back in 2013.

The potential loss of Sherman would be another big blow to the Seahawks' famed Legion of Boom secondary. Safety Kam Chancellor's career is already in doubt after a neck injury he suffered last season.
