The Seattle Seahawks are attempting to do some damage control in the wake of quarterback Russell Wilson publicly expressing frustration at the team's inability to protect him.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported more teams continue to call the Seahawks to inquire about Wilson's availability. However, those teams have apparently been told Seattle has no interest in trading its franchise quarterback.

Pelissero noted Wilson's “media tour” is driving speculation. But the team's inclusion of Wilson in the hiring of new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron would suggest the Seahawks are trying to give the Pro Bowler more of a say in personnel matters going forward.

Mike Garafolo sure sounds skeptical, at the very least.

It is true Wilson has not had much protection under center. He has been sacked at least 40 times in every season of his professional career except for his rookie year in 2012. The Seahawks have mostly only made fringe upgrades to the offensive line in recent seasons, which could be driving some of Wilson's frustration.

Simultaneously, the 2020 version of Seattle's offensive line was much improved.

The Seahawks had the 16th-highest pass-blocking grade this past season, per Pro Football Focus, which is the highest-ranking they have held with Wilson as their quarterback.

Left tackle Duane Brown continues to excel at protecting Wilson's blindside and provides a decent enough foundation upfront. Of course, the Seahawks also boast two of the better receivers in football with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett lining up out wide.

Wilson might be using some of his public appearances to vent, but it does not seem the Seahawks have any plan to move him.
