Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown denies that the team is looking to trade second-year combo guard Markelle Fultz.

A report over the weekend stated that Markelle Fultz is no longer in the Sixers' long-term plans and that the player himself would prefer a trade. Fultz's agent has denied the rumor as well.

“They’re inaccurate,” Brown said on 97.5 The Fanatic. “And all of that stuff, we learned five days ago, somebody had written or spoken about he wanted to maybe look at other options, as well. I think it’s just part of the world we live in. It’s not shocking or surprising to me personally that these things come up. I get it. And I think that Elton Brand, in the role that he has – I’m thrilled to have Elton as my general manager – that’s certainly all in his wheelhouse more than mine.”

In 19 games this season, Fultz is averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 41.9 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 56.8 percent from the free-throw line. The former No. 1 overall pick is meeting with multiple shoulder specialists this week and won’t participate in full practices or games until the specialist has had the opportunity to evaluate him.

What else is Brett Brown supposed to say here? Even if the Sixers are looking to move on from Fultz, the 57-year-old coach just can't come out and admit it. This saga has been dragging on for too long now and it's safe to say both sides need a fresh start
