The Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated from the playoffs on Thursday, losing in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Miami Heat. Afterward, the rumor mill began buzzing surrounding the future of Sixers head coach Doc Rivers.

Well, the morning after being eliminated, it appears the team has already come to a decision.

ESPN First Take host Stephen A. Smith reported that his inside sources have given him information.

“Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers are going to meet privately (today). I'm also being told that Doc Rivers will survive. He'll last in Philadelphia,” Smith said on television.

The Sixers had a great regular season, but folded like a tent on Thursday night. With their season on the line at home, Philadelphia lost 99-90. But the game was not as close as the score indicated.

It was only a one-point differential at halftime. But the Sixers came out flat in the third quarter, as the Heat built almost a 20-point lead. A lot of people are pointing to the demise of James Harden. After Harden had a huge night in Game 4 with 31 points, he returned the shell of his former self again the next two games, both losses.

The Sixers point guard scored a combined 25 points on 9-for-22 shooting. Sixers center Joel Embiid was in need of the Houston James Harden, but apparently was aware that is not who he got in the trade.

Doc Rivers after the game had to field questions from the media about his job security. The Sixers coach did not appear thrilled to be answering those questions, coming off defensive. It appears he will remain with Philadelphia.
