JJ Redick believes former Philadelphia 76ers teammate Ben Simmons needs just a little more confidence to consistently hit jumpers and 3-pointers.

Simmons has been widely ridiculed for his lack of shooting from outside the painted area. In fact, in his two playing years in the league so far, he has only attempted 17 3-pointers — 11 in 2017-18 and just six in the 2018-19 season. Sure enough, the Sixers star failed to convert even one triple.

This offseason, however, Simmons seems to have developed a consistent jumper. Videos of his workouts surfaced, showing the Australian point-forward shooting from all over the court.

Based on what he has seen so far, Redick is confident Simmons will be able to shoot outside sooner rather than later, noting that it's only a matter of confidence now for the former Rookie of the Year.

He works. He works…I think he’ll be able to shoot at some point,” Redick said during an appearance on The Zach Lowe Podcast, per Sixers Wire.

“A lot of it I think is just is confidence. He can shoot at a high enough clip when he’s shooting spot shots that it should translate at some point to shooting three’s in a game. Those videos that went viral, it looks to me that he is shooting with some confidence there.”

Sure enough, it will take some time before Ben Simmons develops confidence in his shot. After all, he needs to shoot in an actual game to get used to it. Once he does, however, the 23-year-old will undoubtedly be difficult to stop.
