Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid just made it to the All-NBA Second Team, and while it is something to be happy about, it actually put the Sixers in a tricky situation.

After all, as Bobby Marks of ESPN pointed out, the accolade made Embiid eligible for a supermax extension that kicks off in the 2023-24 season. This means a projected $191 million contract over four years for Embiid, paying him between $40-$50 million until 2027.

While Joel Embiid has established himself as the best player in the Sixers, Philly will certainly have concerns when deciding about giving him the supermax. For one, the All-Star big man's injury  history is not a positive sign.

Of course, it is more than likely the Sixers give him the massive contract since many teams will be interested in poaching the Cameroonian should he not get the deal he wants. With that said, it will be interesting to see what moves the team will make to create a championship-caliber team.

For now, though, it is the least of the Sixers' worries. They have a bigger fish (err… bird?) to fry in the Atlanta Hawks, who recently tied their second-round series at 2-2. Embiid continues to deal with a knee injury, and Philly must find a way to ease the pressure on him while aiming to retake the lead against their Eastern conference nemesis.

As for Embiid's future, they can decide on that later.
