Early in his career, Joel Embiid's confidence is already at an all-time high. Especially now that the Philadelphia 76ers are considered to be serious playoff contenders.

As reported by Ian Begley of ESPN, Embiid admitted that he feels no one can guard him on one-on-one coverage. The Sixers center said:

“They wanted to guard me one-on-one and I feel like I'm unstoppable,” Embiid said. “So I just have to take advantage of it.”

His words come in after scoring 31 points in their Game 1 loss to the Celtics. Indeed, no one could match up against the 24-year-old. He shot 12-of-21 from the field. In the third quarter, he scored 11 points, missing just one out of five shots.

Yet despite his performance and realization that no one can guard him one-on-one, Embiid admitted that there's still a lot he can improve upon:

“Like I said the other night, considering what I've done in the past, I was really bad [in Game 1]. And there's a lot of stuff I can correct.”

This seems to be the game plan for Embiid and the Sixers. When the Celtics don't double-team him, he has the go signal to unleash his arsenal of post moves.

They are down 0-1 to the Celtics right now. They desperately need to take Game 2 to have a good chance moving forward, especially against a well-coached Celtics team.

But Embiid's confidence in himself also mirrors that of his confidence in the Sixers:

“We've got a special team, we've got a pretty good chance,” Embiid said. “So it's just on us to go out and keep playing the same way we've been playing.”
